Trimethylethoxysilane (TMES) has been recognized as a good co-precursor to increase the degree of hydrophobicity during the synthesis of a silica aerogel because of its methyl groups. Therefore, some physical properties of silica aerogels, including the contact angle and porosity, were investigated using TMES as a co-precursor at different molar ratios with the main precursor such as tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) or tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). In contrast to TMES, most silylating agents such as hexamethyldisilazane (HMDZ) and trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS) have been used for surface modification because of their ability to enhance the hydrophobicity of the aerogel surface. This work examines the silylation effect, which includes increasing hydrophobicity by TMES to determine the possibility of using it as an alternative silylating agent during ambient pressure drying in the synthesis of sodium silicate-based silica aerogel. In addition, the physical properties of sodium silicate-based silica aerogels with silylation under different TMES/TMCS volume ratio are investigated. The physical properties of sodium silicate-based aerogels can be changed by the TMES/TMCS volume ratio during the surface modification step. Aerogels with a high specific surface area (458?m2/g), pore volume (3.215?cm3/g), porosity (92.7%), and contact angle (131.8°) can be obtained TMES/TMCS volume ratio of 40/60.  相似文献

Polyethylenimine (PEI) is a well-known cationic polymer which has high transfection efficiency due to its buffering effect. However, nondegradability, cytotoxicity, aggregation, and short-circulation time in vivo still need to be overcome for a successful gene delivery. Degradable, hyperbranched poly(ester amine)s (PEAs) based on poloxamer diacrylate and low molecular weight branched PEI, were successfully synthesized and evaluated as a nonviral gene carrier. The PEAs were obtained in significant yields through Michael type addition reaction of diacrylate monomers and low molecular weight branched PEI. Analysis of degradation products by the reduction in molecular weight demonstrated that PEAs degrade in a controlled fashion. The PEA showed good DNA binding ability and the sizes of complexes under physiological condition were below 150 nm, implicating its potential for intracellular delivery. It showed lower cytotoxicity in three different cell lines (A549, 293T, and HepG2) compared with PEI 25K. PEAs showed much higher transfection efficiencies in three cell lines compared with PEI 25K and PEI 1.8K, and revealed little serum dependency in A549 cell line when the content of poloxamer in the PEA was increased up to 30%.  相似文献

Lanthanide complexes with benzothiazole derivatives (Btz-R, R = OCH(3) and OH) and terpyridine (tpy) ligands were synthesized, and their photophysical properties were precisely investigated. The free Btz-OCH(3) ligand in toluene, excited with UV light, produced the normal emission bands around 410 nm, whereas Btz-OH produced a strong excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) band at 510 nm. The Ln(III) complexes (Ln = Nd, Er, and Yb) exhibited sensitized near-IR luminescence when the Btz-R ligands were excited. The sensitized luminescence quantum yields (Phi(Ln)) of the lanthanide complexes were markedly enhanced by ESIPT: for [Nd(Btz-R)(tpy)] in toluene solution, Phi(Ln) = 0.04% for Btz-OCH(3) and 0.39% for Btz-OH. The sensitized luminescence of the Er(III) complexes (Phi(Ln) = 0.002% for Btz-OCH(3) and 0.009% for Btz-OH) was less efficient than that of the Nd(III) complexes. This difference is due to the smaller energy gap between the emitting and ground levels of the Er(III) ion. The rate constants for the energy transfer from Btz-R to Ln(III) were about approximately 10(9) s(-1), as evaluated by the F?rster resonance energy transfer mechanism.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to develop a novel polymer cuff for the local delivery of α-lipoic acid (ALA) to inhibit neointimal formation in vivo. The polymer cuff was fabricated by incorporating the ALA into poly-(D,L-lactide-co-caprolactone) 40:60 (PLC), with or without methoxy polyethylene glycol (MethoxyPEG). The release kinetics of ALA and in vitro degradation by hydrolysis were analyzed by HPLC and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), respectively. In vivo evaluation of the effect of the ALA-containing polymer cuff was carried out using a rat femoral artery cuff injury model. At 24 h, 48% or 87% of the ALA was released from PCL cuffs with or without MethoxyPEG. FE-SEM results indicated that ALA was blended homogenously in the PLC with MethoxyPEG, whereas ALA was distributed on the surface of the PLC cuff without MethoxyPEG. The PLC cuff with MethoxyPEG showed prolonged and controlled release of ALA in PBS, in contrast to the PLC cuff without MethoxyPEG. Both ALA-containing polymer cuffs had a significant effect on the inhibition of neointimal formation in rat femoral artery. Novel ALA-containing polymer cuffs made of PLC were found to be biocompatible and effective in inhibiting neointimal formation in vivo. Polymer cuffs containing MethoxyPEG allowed the release of ALA for one additional week, and the rate of drug release from the PLC could be controlled by changing the composition of the polymer. These findings demonstrate that polymer cuffs may be an easy tool for the evaluation of anti-restenotic agents in animal models.  相似文献

Biological molecules such as enzymes, cells, antibodies, lectins, peptide aptamers, and cellular components in an immobilized form are extensively used in biotechnology, in biorecognition and in many medicinal applications. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the developments in new immobilization materials, techniques, and their practical applications previously developed by the authors. A detailed overview of several immobilization materials and technologies is given here, including bead cellulose, encapsulation in ionotropic gels and polyelectrolyte complexes, and various immobilization protocols applied onto surfaces. In addition, the review summarises the screening and design of an immobilization protocol, practical applications of immobilized biocatalysts in the industrial production of metabolites, monitoring, and control of fermentation processes, preparation of electrochemical/optical biosensors and biofuel cells.  相似文献

Autophagy is a self-degradation system of cellular components through an autophagosomal-lysosomal pathway. Over the last 15 yr, yeast genetic screens led to the identification of a number of genes involved in the autophagic pathway. Most of these autophagy genes are present in higher eukaryotes and regulate autophagy process for cell survival and homeostasis. Significant progress has recently been made to better understand the molecular mechanisms of the autophagy machinery. Especially, autophagy process, including the regulation of autophagy induction through mTOR and the nucleation and elongation in autophagosome formation through class III phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase complex and ubiquitin-like conjugation systems, became evident. While many unanswered questions remain to be answered, here, we summarize the recent process of autophagy with emphasis on molecules and their protein complexes along with advanced molecular mechanisms that regulate the autophagy machinery.  相似文献

The aim of this brief report is to study the behaviour of sheath structure in a multi-component plasma with dust-neutral collisions. The plasma consists of electrons, ions, micron size negatively charged dust particles and neutrals. The sheath-edge potential and sheath width are calculated for collisionally dominated sheath. Doped up : The incorporation of Zn2+ dopants in tetrahedral sites leads to the successful magnetism tuning of spinel metal ferrite nanoparticles (see picture). (Zn0.4Mn0.6)Fe2O4 nanoparticles exhibit the highest magnetization value among the metal ferrite nanoparticles. Such high magnetism results in the largest MRI contrast effects (r2=860 mm?1 s?1) reported to date and also huge hyperthermic effects.

The angular distribution of the five-fold differential cross section for the electron impact double ionization of He (21 S) and He (23 S) has been studied. The kinematical conditions for maxima/minima in the angular distribution for the two cases have been compared. The two-step process for the double ionization is found to contribute very little in the triplet case.  相似文献

Microwave absorption studies have been carried out on MgB2 superconductor using a standard X-band EPR spectrometer. The modulated low-field microwave absorption signals recorded for polycrystalline (grain size ∼ 10 μm) samples suggested the absence of weak-link character. The field dependent direct microwave absorption has been found to obey a ✓H dependence with two different slopes, which indicated a transition from strongly pinned lattice to flux flow regime.  相似文献
